Enrique Aparicio
(Pamplona, 1954)
Enrique Aparicio discovered photography at the age of seven through his father, from whom he learned analog darkroom processes and the visual language of images. At 17, he trained at the Casa de la Juventud in Pamplona, marking the beginning of his professional career. For a decade, he worked as a photographer, earned his professional certification, held various exhibitions, and received national awards.
In 1985, he paused his career for personal reasons, resuming his practice in 2003 with the advent of digital technology. Since then, he has been developing a body of work centered on observation and the exploration of the essential.
His work investigates the relationship between the visible and the suggested, focusing on the passage of time, the organic, and transformation. Through restrained and subtle imagery, he explores traces, marks, and forms that evoke natural processes. In his most recent projects (Harmony in the Unexpected, Depths and Fossils), his practice evolves toward more conceptual approaches, where the image serves as an open space for reflection—quiet and poetic.
Alongside his personal artistic practice, he works as a cinematographer on short films, serves as a juror in photography competitions, and contributes to art publications and collectives.
